On the 16th of May 2016, educational programmes of the I. Kant Baltic Federal University received the EXCELLENT QUALITY distinction award given by the National Centre for Public Accreditation to the best educational programmes in Russia. The University got this sign of recognition after it had undergone an international accreditation procedure. The aim of international accreditation is to ensure higher quality of education and adherence to the national and international standards of higher professional education.
The National Centre for Public Accreditation published a report on the results of its work in the IKBFU. All the presented programmes were accredited; now the University has right to post the EXCELLENT QUALITY sign on its website, having a link to the Register of Accredited Programmes.
The National Centre for Public Accreditation has introduced a three-tier classification system of professional public accreditation. It offers three types of professional public accreditation:
- national professional accreditation;
- international professional accredidation;
- joint international accreditation.

They meet the European standards of higher education and fully comply with the principles of the ESG-ENQA, the requirements of professional standards and the labour market. The EXCELLENT QUALITY sign helps university applicants, employers and other stakeholders to better orient in the multitude of programmes offered today and choose the best ones. "
