From January 2016, Maxim V. Klimenko, associate professor, Department of Radiophysics and Information Security, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University will serve on the COSPAR Publication Committee.
The COSPAR Publications Committee provides oversight on publications in prestigious and authoritative international research journals "Advances in Space Research" (ASR), "Life Sciences in Space Research" (LSSR) and "Space Research Today" (SRT). Committee members are appointed for a term of four years and can be re-appointed only once. Selecting a prospective Committee member, a number of factors are taken into account, including international recognition of the candidate. The Committee follows the principle of balanced representation choosing candidates from various fields of space research.
The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) works under the umbrella of the International Council for Science. It was established in 1958 to help scientists from different countries exchange opinions as well as data obtained by satellites and automatic interplanetary stations. COSPAR headquarters is located in Paris. Every two years, COSPAR holds an assembly, which attracts thousands of international participants - scientists working in space research.
