Two students of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal will receive grants of the Shanghai Municipal Government and join a summer school organized by Shanghai International Studies University. The Summer School is organized jointly by Shanghai International Studies University and the Shanghai Municipal Government. The School offers 35 different programmes, each lasting four weeks.
The programme of the Summer School is wide-ranging and intense. It includes both academic and extracurricular activities: Chinese (hieroglyphs, grammar, speaking, and reading), Chinese culture (Chinese national martial arts, calligraphy, Chinese national painting, etc.) as well as city tours.
In 2016, 20 students from Russia (including two from Kaliningrad) will receive grants of the Shanghai municipal government. The grant covers all expenditures with the exception of travel costs.
Participation of the IKBFU students in the programme of the Shanghai Municipal Government became possible after the delegation of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University had visited a number of Chinese universities in January 2016.
Igor Zhukovsky, Vice-Rector for International Relations:
"Cooperation with Chinese partners is becoming more practical. Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University has already signed an agreement on academic cooperation with Harbin Institute of Technology. We invited representatives of the Institute to Kaliningrad to discuss joint research projects. Unfortunately, academic exchange has not become systematic yet.
The Summer School in Shanghai International Studies University is a good opportunity for our students to study Chinese in one of the best universities in China. In our turn, we look forward to welcoming students from China to our traditional summer schools on international law, magnetism and nanotechnology. We hope that this is the beginning of mutually beneficial international cooperation".
