    Researchers from the IKBFU Institute of Chemistry and Biology presented papers at the International Conference on Rural Development

    On November 28-29, 2013 researchers from the I.Kant Baltic Federal University took part in the Second International Conference "Rural Development 2013: innovation and sustainability", organized at the University of Alexandras Stulginskis (former Lithuanian Agricultural Academy) in Kaunas, Lithuania.

    On November 28-29, 2013 researchers from the I.Kant Baltic Federal University took part in the Second International Conference "Rural Development 2013: innovation and sustainability", organized at the University of Alexandras Stulginskis (former Lithuanian Agricultural Academy) in Kaunas, Lithuania.
    The main theme of the conference was the general policy of the Baltic States, aimed at improving competitiveness in agriculture, pooling financial resources, building partnerships and developing innovations. More than 200 papers from more than 20 countries - Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States and others – were presented to the international audience.

    Researchers from the I.Kant Federal University, Natalia Chupakhina and Poltava Raisa, took part in the conference. They made a presentation on the results of their joint research done in collaboration with the Institute of Alexandras Stulginskis (Lithuania) and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland). The topic of research was antioxidant compounds and antioxidant activity in blue-fleshed potatoes (authors - Elvyra Jarienė, Nijolė Vaitkevičienė, Natalija Chupakhina, Raisa Poltavskaya, and Agnieszka Kita) and anthocyanin quantity in sprouted seeds (authors - Honorata Danilčenko, Oksana Kubiliūtė, Maria Jeznach, Galina Chupachina, Pavel Fedurajev, and Liubov Skrypnik).

    Abstracts of the papers from the conference are included in the major databases of Science Citation Thomson Reuters, ISI, Web of Science and Academic Search Complete via EBSCO.
