    The delegation of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina at IKBFU

    On October 31, a visit to IKBFU was undertaken by a delegation of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, which included Prof. Jörg Hacker, the president of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Prof. Dr. Bärbel Friedrich, vice president of the the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Prof. Dr. Jutta Schnitzer-Ungefug, secretary general of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Prof. Otfried Höffe, fellow of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Dr. Marina Koch-Krumrei, head of the Department of International Relations, Mr. Elmar König, head of the Policy Advice Department, Ms Ruth Narmann, Scientific officer of the Department International Relations, Ms Lilo Berg, editor in chief of the Berliner Zeitung, and Ms Annika Ströfer, assistant at the Department of Intenational relations.

    The delegation visited IKBFU's Science Park and talked to the university's students.

    In the course of a meeting with IKBFU's rector, the guests learned interesting facts about the past and present of the university and got acquainted with its education programmes. In his turn, Prof. Jörg Hacker spoke of the Leopoldina and expressed hope that the partner relations would develop in future: "We are looking forward to learning more about your projects, especially, the Science Park and the Centre for Immunology".

    The visit was concluded with a lecture by Prof. Otfried Höffe entitled Immanuel Kant – a citizen of the world and Königsberg. The lecture was opened by Prof. Vladimir N. Bryushinkin, head of IKBFU's Department of Philosophy. Prof. Bryushinkin spoke of the university's major Kant studies publication – the Kantovsky sbornik journal – and the recently established Kant Institute, the unique to the region research centre that focuses of Kant's anthropology and the translation of Kant's lifetime biography.
