    The Medicine of the Future technology platform: cooperation between science and industry

    A meeting of the Medicine of the Future technology platform took place at IKBFU on October 8. The technology platform is a vehicle of public private partnership bringing together research establishments and business structures enjoying public support.

    A meeting of the Medicine of the Future technology platform took place at IKBFU on October 8. The technology platform is a vehicle of public private partnership bringing together research establishments and business structures enjoying public support.

    The meeting was opened by Lyudmila Ogorodova, the chair of the technological platform, who presented a work plan implementation report for the first 3 quarters of 2011. According to Mrs. Ogorodova, as of the beginning of October, 248 organisations has joined the memorandum on the establishment of the platform.

    Representatives of the platform organisations approved the list of members of the working group on the development of strategic research programme. A decision was reached to create project libraries both for research and business organisations. The meeting also approved the form of expert evaluation: commissions must engage regular and guest experts, including an economist for the assessment of the economic feasibility of the project and a specialist in the field of intellectual property.

    The round table session was attended by the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Nikolai Tsukanov and the rector of IKBFU, Andrei Klemeshev. The governor expressed his gratitude to scholars for their efforts and addressed the issues of Kaliningrad medicine relating to the exclave position of the region. The rector welcomed the participants to cooperate with the university emphasising that IKBFU was becoming an important platform for communication between research and industry.
