The final project conference was held in Kaliningrad on December 10-12, 2007. The participants of the conference approved the Joint strategy and Action Plan for Development of Research Training system in Klaipeda University and IKSUR, agreed on establishment of the association of young researchers and the two-branch institute of Cross-Border Studies, discussed possibilities for implementation of the joint research projects in future. The project was evaluated as successful and inspiring.
The final workshop at the Klaipeda County Governor’s Administration was held on November 27, 2007. The project team presented the achieved results to the regional and local authorities of Klaipeda County.
From 27th of August to 2nd of September Immanuel Kant State University of Russia hosted the second phase of interdisciplinary summer school of young scholars. All participants both from Klaipeda and Kaliningrad spent the whole week in the small resort town of Zelenogradsk. The programme included joint lectures and roundtables, fieldtrips and cultural events. As a result, the teams proposed the topics for joint research.
The first phase of the interdisciplinary summer school was held in Klaipeda region on July 2-6, 2007. 5 groups of young scholars and research supervisors from Klaipeda and Kaliningrad working in the spheres of regional development, linguistics, environmental protection, history, educology and social work met for the first time, exchanged the experience on research organization and topics, participated in the fieldstudies and became acquainted with Lithuanian culture and traditions.
Workshop at the Klaipeda County Governor’s Administration was organized on April 24, 2007 for districts and local communities representatives from Kaliningrad and Klaipeda regions. Regional and local authorities together with representatives of Klaipeda University and I. Kant State University of Russia discussed the ways the institutions of higher education and research could additionally contribute to the regional and local development.
The workshop within WP 1 “Elaboration of the Strategy and Action Plan”, WP2 “Creating the database and development of web-portal” and WP3 “Organisation of scientific exchange” was held at Immanuel Kant State University of Russia on April 12-14, 2007. The international project team used the brain storm method to shape the outline for the Joint Strategy for Development of Research Training system in Klaipeda University and IKSUR. The database and web-portal group discussed practical issues of the WP2 implementation. It was decided that IKSUR could provide hosting for the joint three-languages web-portal. The preliminary programme for two interdisciplinary summer schools was suggested.
The opening conference was organized at 26-27 th February, 2007 at Klaipeda University. The project teams from two partner universities and Klaipeda County Governor’s Administration presented the project aims, constructed the detailed work plan for the implementation of the project actions, determined specific duties and responsibilities.
