IKBFU optics specialists aim to create holographic TV

The IKBFU’s researchers captured an image of a 10 kopek coin using a helium-cadmium laser and an SLM display. The image displayed on a computer monitor is visible to the naked eye.

The IKBFU’s researchers captured an image of a 10 kopek coin using a helium-cadmium laser and an SLM display. The image displayed on a computer monitor is visible to the naked eye. Plans are afoot to capture, transmit, and display a video, which is an important step towards developing the holographic TV technology.

Aleksey Polyakov, Head of the Visualisation Technology Laboratory: ‘New visualisation technology is a very promising area. We are studying possibilities for the future TV. Although our experiment is not a breakthrough in research, it is very interesting. Such efforts are at the cutting edge of technology’.
