An associate professor of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture and Sports, Dr. Nikita S. Nikitin participated in a research project at Algarve University (Portugal) in 2011. The COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF HIV-RELATED SEXUAL BEHAVIOR AMONG YOUNG IMMIGRANTS IN PORTUGAL AND RUSSIA: SPECIFICS AND PROSPECTS project was implemented with the support of Erasmus Mundus triple I mobility scheme. The programme gave an opportunity to form an international research team, which included scholars from IKBFU, Algarve University, the University of Huelva (Spain), the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (Belarus), and Mikhail Ostrogradsky Kremenchug National University (Ukraine). The main purpose of the experiment was to analyse the life quality and risk behaviour in young immigrants in Spain and Portugal and their peers at home. The project is of significant importance, since the HIV infection rate among young immigrants in Portugal and Spain has increased steeply over the last years. At the same time, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus are among the main "suppliers" of immigrants to these countries. The results of research will help identify the features of risk behaviour in young immigrants. The analysis of data obtained will be used for the prevention of new cases of HIV infection in the region. A series of follow-up articles is planned to be published in the leading academic journals
