On March 9th, 2017, the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University opened QUANTORIUM, a technopark for school children.
QUANTORIUM has been open for more than a month, but worked in a ‘test mode’. It was only on its opening day that QUANTORIUM showed all its laboratories and other research facilities. The IKBFU technopark for children is a joint project of the Government of the Kaliningrad region, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives and IKBFU.
Most of the laboratories are in the FABRIKA, but some of the Quantums are housed by the Centre of Gifted Youth (Ushakovo), the Kaliningrad Regional Ecology, History and Tourism Centre for Children and Youth, and the INNOVARIUM, a laboratory of the Institute of Living Systems (IKBFU). QUANTORIUM implements several education programmes: IT-Quantum, Roboquantum, Neuroquantum, Bioquantum, VR \ AR Quantum, Laserquantum, Energyquantum, and Mediaquantum.
Many honorary gests - Anton Alikhanov, Acting Governor of the Kaliningrad region, Marina Rakova, CEO of the National Multimedia Centre, Alexander Shenderyuk-Zhidkov, Ilya Barinov; Eduard Batanov - Acting deputy prime ministers of the Government of the Kaliningrad region, Svetlana Truseneva, Acting Minister of Education, and Alexander Yarashuk, head of City Administration attended the opening ceremony. The guests also visited the Fifth Regional Exhibition of students' designs.
