    Urban Planning Institute to open at the I. Kant Baltic Federal University

    On June 16, the 31st meeting of the Council of chief architects of constituent entities of the Russian Federation entitled Living standards in urban planning, architecture and construction was opened at IKBFU. It brought together heads of urban planning offices from Moscow, the Volgograd, Ryazan, and Bryansk regions, Perm, the Chechen Republic and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

It brought together heads of urban planning offices from Moscow, the Volgograd, Ryazan, and Bryansk regions, Perm, the Chechen Republic and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

    Rector of IKBFU Andrei P. Klemeshev expressed hope for further cooperation with the Council of Architects in view of the establishment of the "Architecture. Urban Planning. Spatial Development" research and education centre at IKBFU. The university has set out to develop a new education standard in the field of Urban Planning. The first intake of students on new education programmes in the field of architecture and urban planning is expected as early as 2012. It is "an important step in the university's development", the rector says, and an equally important step in the nation-wide development of urban planning.
